Popular Kitchen Layouts

Typically, kitchens are designed in one of six ways. Upon collaboration with you, and based off of the dimensions of your space, our designers will determine the layout that best works for you, your home and your family.

The six most common kitchen layouts are:

L-Shaped Kitchens: Simple yet effective, l-shaped kitchens are built along two adjoining walls and boast a functional amount of storage in a small space.
U-Shaped Kitchens: Consists of bench space, appliances and cabinetry along three adjacent walls, in turn forming a u-shape. These kitchens boast a lot of storage and allow for multiple users at a time.
Island Kitchen: Particularly popular in open-plan homes. Island kitchens consist of bench space and cabinetry against a wall with an island in the centre that allows extra room for additional bench space and/or storage.
Galley Kitchen: A minimalistic and ergonomic design with little room for complex fixtures and appliances. Galley kitchens are typically two rows of cabinetry facing each other with a single walkway (galley) separating them.
Single Wall Kitchen: Typically found in smaller homes, a single-wall kitchen is exactly what it sounds like. Storage is everything, and as a result, all cabinetry, benchtops, required fixtures, and appliances are placed against a single stretch of wall.
Peninsula Kitchen: A u-shaped layout with an island bench that is connected to a wall. Peninsula kitchens are ideal for typically unconventional spaces or if you want to break up your open-plan living space
